The Utah Counties Fact Book is published yearly by the Utah Association of Counties and is meant to provide county officials, state agencies, associations, private organizations, and citizens with a compilation of useful, county-relevant data. To this end, we’ve collected data from several federal, state, and county level governments. The information in this book describes the economic, demographic, public safety, and financial characteristics of each of Utah’s 29 counties.
Where applicable, we have converted data into a form that allows comparisons across counties. Because we’ve gathered data from well established sources, we will be able to make the comparisons found in this book for years to come.
This book is divided into two sections. The first section is a county by county, two-page profile of key county statistics. These county profiles offer a snapshot of each county’s demographic, fiscal, public safety, and economic standing. The second section is an appendix that presents the same data in table form. The appendix compares the data county to county and year to year.
We appreciate the work various agencies went through to collect the source data we’ve used. A list of sources used in this book can be found on page 60.
